Wow, just wow. It's a fascinating thing to watch a company self destruct.
I didn't think my opinion of CCP's management could go lower.
I was wrong.
I wonder how much lower they'll be able to push it?

Well CCP now has 3 months to address my concerns or they lose my subscription. If Hilmar wants to see what we'll do well go look at the cancellation figures. Then consider this is coming just from the lack of willingness of CCP to really address the primary question of whether or not performance enhancers will be sold through the NEX. Imagine the **** storm that's going to manifest if they actually go on down this path.

yep pretty telling that they can squash one rumor instantly but are taking days avoiding the MT for Power items question.

Wonder if this will make it to 500 by the time the CSM makes it to Iceland.
I do think that the direct actions (particularly account cancellations) have caused CCP to reconsider their earlier assessment that they could just ignore the issue and it would go away. I mean I just don't see them incurring the cost of bringing the CSM to Iceland if they weren't genuinely concerned about the data they're seeing.
My suggestion it to encourage people to unsubscribe so CCP understands the potential magnitude of their financial loss if they don't change course away from MT.

For the thinking impaired...
They refuse still to change their statemetn to the effect you cannot BUY AN ADVANTAGE. He only says you cannot buy VICTORY, but does not rule out buying an ADVANTAGE.
He also states, he belives not many people will leave over this. Still pompous. No change.
In other words, it is game changing but not game dominating Microtransactions.
Then the only answer is to stay the course.
Also if you oppose the MT path cancel your subs already. get your friends to cancel their subs the more subs are canceled the more leverage the CSM will actually have.

Man this time they can't even blame it on a leak I mean how the hell did they think this would fly under the radar. We're a global community who play a game on the internet didn't it occur to them that anything that gets published on the internet will be found and shared.

Threadageddon will not be dropped off the front page.
CCP you'd better seek some treatment for that case of Rectal Cranial inversion you are suffering from. Particularly you Hilmar.

Okay, lets keep this simple.
1: If CCP were foolish enough to do this, keep in mind that items/services sold through the NeX are available to all players. Older players would benefit just as much, if not more, than noobs.
Only older players with lots of liquid isk or large real life wallets.
Quote:
2: Also keep in mind pay to win refers to being able to buy an in game advantage with cash, an advantage not available via other means. All items/services sold through the NeX are readily available to everyone whether they spend cash or ISK to get their PLEX/AURUM.
You have to ignore the effects this will have on the plex market as more and more plex are poofed into aurum rather than converted into game time this will cause an upward pressure on plex ISK prices as supply decreases it also opens up the temptation for CCP to take steps to reduce the availability of ISK.
Oh now they'd never say they were doing it to push the sale of more plex they'd just claim it was to fight "inflation" or to balance the risk vs reward.
It's generally a bad idea to design a system where bad behavior is encouraged.
I mean come on we're supposed to just roll over and take accept this crap because "CCP is a business it's their job to make money" then think they aren't going to actually try to capitalize on it?
The scammers must love it when you visit Jita.

1: You mean any player with large amounts of liquid ISK or large real life wallets. Just like the rest of the EVE economy.
Fair enough I'll grant you that point.
Quote:
2: You are forgetting that there is a HUGE surplus in unused PLEX floating around. You are also overlooking the basic market forces that keep the price of PLEX in bounds. Demand increases > PLEX prices rise and become more profitable to resell > More players buy PLEX to resell > abundant supply and competition drives prices back down > Low prices cause few players to buy PLEX for resale > supplies drop and demand increases > and so the cycle continues.
CCP determines the rate ISK enters/exits the economy there for they can easily manipulate the market in such a way to minimize the value of plex in isk while maximizing its value as aurum.
Quote:
You should also consider that the game desperately needs more ISK sinks as it is. This, however, is not an ISK sink.
This is utter nonsense repeated by people who don't understand what currency is and how it operates. Have you noticed any massive sustained growth in isk prices of commodities? No you haven't. You know why because there is no ****ing inflation therefor there is no need for additional sinks much less a "desperate" one.
However if CCP wants to maximize their revenue from the NEX it's in their interest tighten the supply of isk not to combat inflation but to cause deflation to increase the relative value of items from the cash shop.
Quote:
Finally, of course they are trying to bolster their income. They would be a complete business failure if they didn't explore those options. This is one of the main reasons why purchasing skill points boosts, outside of the system we already have with the ability to buy a highly skilled character full blown, is very unlikely to occur. It would ultimately do more damage to their income stream than it would generate.
I personally prefer to stick with realities rather than hypothetical and unlikely what if's.
You aren't sticking with reality you're operating in fantasy land where business people don't operate in a rational manner to maximize their revenue. The only real challenge for CCP is getting the bulk of the user base over the initial ick factor and comfortable with MT in concept once that happens they'll be able to ramp up their offerings over time.
Which is why now is the last real chance we're going to have to derail this train. Though honestly I think our realistic outcome will be to slow it down.
Because once this moves beyond hypothetical it'll be too late to stop it.

Ok, NEX is to stay as seen from this tweet, you just lost a subscriber, bye.
CSM is just a joke. What had you expected? They are more busy playing important while CCP gets to say everything.
CSM basicly consist of the biggest attention*****s in EvE.
Attention *****s don't generally go along to get along since that tends to minimize the attention paid to them.
I'm pretty sure CCP has a range of options they are willing to negotiate within. They will have their preferred scenario as well as the least preferred that is still acceptable to them from a business perspective.
Unfortunately the CSM are at a disadvantage in that CCP has all the data and can present it in a selective manner so we're hoping that the CSM are people who can read between the lines and see what data is missing from what is shown. Unfortunately I'm not sure on the backgrounds of any of the CSM so I have no idea whether or not any of them have the kind of data analysis background to see that.
I do get the feeling at least in the case of Seleene and Mittens that they are not the types of people to sit meekly through a bull**** session. So there is a decent chance that they'll be able to fight CCP back to the least preferred but acceptable alternative.
Sadly even if we achieve some level of victory today it'll just be a temporary reprieve until they try to push it through again.

Originally by: Trebor Daehdoow The first day's meetings are winding down. We spent the whole day discussing first the CQ and performance issues, and the initial rollout of the NEX and vanity goods.
Some of the discussions were passionate but not angry. Some very positive things came out, and I think the groundwork was laid for a successful day 2, in which we will discuss the future of microtransactions in EVE.
We are trying to keep people updated on general progress on twitter (#csm6) but the details will have to wait until after the summit. We intend to get information out as soon as humanly possible.
Best, Trebor
My question is two fold
1 are you asking for any concessions from CCP
2 are CCP offering any?
ie.. are they just telling you what they decided to do or is there any actual give and take going on?

i'm glad that you, being new around here, can tell whats wrong with MT for game changing items. i find it sad that CCP, who has been around from the beginning, can't seem to figure out why.
I'll tell you confirmation bias and yes men. Hilmar's got visions of dollars dancing in his head and is only listening to people who support his belief that MT will be a river of money into their coffers. Apparently Confirmation bias is a cultural trait in Icelandic men.

And the threadnaught continues.
I do have to agree how ****ing hard can it be to translate into two languages. I assume that they have people on staff who can do such and it's not like it has to be handwritten. Hell release it in English and I'm certain there are plenty of players who would be capable of translating it into other languages.
This is not that hard we could even provide you with a multiple choice survey.
Performance enhancers yes/no,
CQ optional Y/N
Freeing political prisoners (telling someone to DIAF on the internet is not a threat) Yes/No
Getting our ****ing save slots in the fitting tool back yes/no/pay for it
Taking a long time answering simple questions means you're polishing a turd.
